Anise Carroll Covarrubias is a Junior at Westwood High School and this is her third year in Interact. She really enjoys connecting with the community with service projects, events, and meetings. She is also the District Governor of Interact this year and was an ambassador to Kenya over the summer for the 2024 Crutches for Africa project. She is also a part of the IB program in pursuit of a rigorous higher education, and hopes to study engineering after high school. She also enjoys running, sewing, and painting in her free time. She is very excited to lead this year’s Council and hopes for a great year!

Piper Rietz is a senior at Basha High School. She has been actively involved in Interact since Freshman year and this will be her third year as a part of the council. Piper enjoys school, and taking AP classes in the hope to pursue a career in medicine. In addition to Interact and school, she is also a competitive swimmer and spends most weekends competing in swim meets. In her free time Piper enjoys spending time with friends, volunteering, being a member of the International Thespian Society and reading. Piper is very excited to work with the council again this year helping clubs around the state and serving internationally!

Bhavitha Sunkara is a senior at BASIS Scottsdale, and this is her fifth year with Interact. She is currently the Vice President of the BASIS Scottsdale Interact club, and is very excited to participate in many service projects this year. She is also part of her school’s Neuroscience Club and French Honor Society. She is taking lots of AP courses in preparation for college, and is very passionate about psychology and neuroscience. Her hobbies include reading, crocheting, singing, and playing tennis. She is very excited to be on the Executive Team this year as District Secretary, and looks forward to working with her fellow Council members and being more involved in her communities– local, state, and international!

Sahana Attaluri is a senior at Basha High School in Chandler, and has been actively involved with Interact since her freshman year, as she is the East Valley Team Leader and this will be her third year of being an Assistant Governor. Sahana enjoys taking rigorous AP classes, and is also involved in other clubs including HOSA, Science is Fun, GirlsxSTEM, and Bring Change to Mind, in order to advocate for science education and health equity. In the future, Sahana hopes to pursue a career in the medical field as a surgeon to further her love of science. She looks forward to assisting with the growth of Interact clubs and increasing awareness and participation in the multitude of opportunities Rotary provides!

Jocelyn Ben-Rhouma is a junior at Mohave High school who joined the interact club sophomore year and quickly realized how much she enjoyed being a part of it. The club's focus on community service and personal growth affected her, and she felt a strong sense of belonging among the other members. The activities and various events we organized helped her develop new skills as well as fostering a spirit of teamwork and collaboration. This experience has made me eager to become more involved in the club and contribute even more to its goals.

Kyndra Blumer is a senior at Westwood High School and this is her third year in Interact, serving as her club Treasure, and second year on the Interact District Council. She enjoys being a part of her community by helping in various service projects as well as fundraising for different causes and spreading awareness on ongoing issues. She is a part of the International Baccalaureate Career Pathway Program at Westwood High School. Her pathway is Education, as she intends to become an Elementary Special Education Teacher. She hopes to attend ASU in the fall, majoring in Early Childhood Education. She is also involved in various clubs and organizations on campus, such as Earth Club, Science is Fun, Bring Change to Mind, National Honors Society, IB Mentors, FCCLA, Little Warriors, Youth of Life, and the Mesa Mayors Youth Committee. Apart from her extracurricular activities, she believes in the power of service that we all hold, and that with everyone's involvement, we can make the world a more sustainable and empathetic place!

Derrick Boateng: Hi there! I'm Derrick Boateng, a Junior at Boulder Creek High School. I'm passionate about volunteering and spreading joy through Rotary service projects in my Interact club and within my community. I thrive on connecting with people from diverse backgrounds and I try to be someone anyone can talk to about anything. Exploring new food spots with my mates, catching movies with friends, and shopping for clothes with my buddies are some of my favorite activities. I also really love video games and listening to music across various genres. Additionally, I enjoy messing around with my friends to make lifelong memories that I can cherish. I aspire to be a person that radiates joy, laughter, and comfort into the world, as this is what I believe is most important. I’m so excited to see how many lives I can impact this year as a Rotary Assistant Governor and am truly humbled, and immensely grateful to be on the council this year!

Eric Boateng is a junior at Boulder Creek High School. This is Eric’s 3rd year in Interact and he is the President of his residing club. Eric loves new experiences, traveling, meeting new people, and creating an impact. Eric loves spending time with friends in and out of school, and doing various volunteering projects for the community. He also loves spending time with friends in and out of school and creating lasting bonds through various activities. Eric loves basketball and tennis, and is super excited to be on the council. He plans to advocate for a more connected system in Interact, and more engagement in schools in district 5495!
Sophia Brown

Sophia Brown is a senior at Prescott High School in Prescott, Arizona. She has been involved with Interact since her freshman year and this is now her fourth year in the club. She is the current president at her school and this will be her first year as an Assistant Governor on the Interact District Council. This summer she was one of the Interact Ambassadors to Kenya delivering mobility devices as a part of the Crutches for Africa project. Other than Interact she is also the Student Body Community Liaison on her school's Student Council and is a part of many clubs such as NHS, Book Club, Soroptimist Club, and Green Life. Outside of school she also volunteers at the local Launch Pad Teen Center on their Teen Advisory Council where she serves as president, as well as their Advisory Board. In addition she volunteers on many local committees and at the local library. In her free time she enjoys traveling, volunteering, hiking, spending time with family, and writing poetry. She is very excited to work on the council and be able to help impact local and worldwide communities!

Amyla Buckhannon is an International Baccalaureate (IB) junior at Westwood High School in Mesa. She has been actively involved in her Interact club since freshmen year and has thoroughly enjoyed participating in her clubs’ service projects. This is her first year as her clubs’ president and as an assistant governor on the Interact District Council. Besides her work with Interact, she is also president of her schools’ DECA club and hoping to start another club revolving around literature. Outside of school, she plays tennis, volunteers, reads/writes, sews, and most importantly loves the company of her friends and family. She is excited to work alongside her Interact peers and make an impact!

Jazmine Comeno is a senior at Westwood High School and is serving as her club's Vice President. She joined the Interact District Council this year and is enthusiastic and hopeful for the year to come. Jazmine is involved in many different clubs at Westwood High School, including Model United Nations, National Honor Society, Earth Club, and Science is Fun she also plays tennis in and outside of school. Over the summer Jazmine had the opportunity of going to Mexico with the 2024 Crutches for Africa Project. She enjoys helping the community in any way she can and wants to start a nonprofit in the future. In her free time, Jazmine enjoys reading, writing, sewing, baking, and volunteering. Jazmine is looking forward to being a helping hand to anyone who needs it!

Asmitha Daggumati is a junior at BASIS Phoenix and this is her second year of Interact. She loves to make others smile and strives to have a part in many people’s joy by volunteering whenever she can. Asmitha volunteers at her local library and at HonorHealth (the hospital and the Desert Mission Food Bank). In school, her favorite activities are NHS and Biology Olympiad. She plays for her school’s varsity tennis team and was the Most Valuable Player in freshman year and the Most Aggressive Player in sophomore year. In addition to these activities, she has been writing articles for a student-led newsletter for almost 4 years and is also a teacher at Kumon. She takes a heavy course load of Honors and AP classes in school to prepare for college. In her free time, she likes to hang out with her friends and read books. Asmitha has a passion for leadership and is excited to make a great impact with her fellow council members this year!

Shripal Dupati is a junior at Arizona College Prep High School in Chandler, Arizona, and this will be his second year in Interact. He is a highly motivated and accomplished individual with a deep passion for community service and leadership. In his school, he has been proactively involved in clubs such as NHS, Red Cross, and Model UN. In addition to his clubs, he finds time to play on his high school’s tennis team. Shripal also takes a wide range of AP classes at his school in preparation for higher education. With a clear vision for making a positive impact, he is eager to contribute to service projects across the state. Shripal is very excited to delve deeper into the community, collaborate with new people, and continue their journey of service!

She has been an active member of her schools Interact club all 4 years of high school and this will be her second year on the Interact District Council. She loves to play volleyball and pickleball. She is currently the RYLA Junior Counselor Coordinator and is on the Planning Team for the upcoming RYLA In January.

Hugo Garcia is a dedicated senior at Bradshaw Mountain High School, known for his active involvement and academic achievements. Since his freshman year, Hugo has been a committed member of Interact, contributing to community service and leadership activities. He is also a proud member of the National Honor Society (NHS), exemplifying the organization's core values of scholarship, service, leadership, and character. Hugo is recognized as an academic weapon in FBLA (Future Business Leaders of America) and HOSA (Health Occupations Students of America), excelling in competitions and leadership roles. His passion for learning is further evident through his participation in the AP Academy, where he has challenged himself with advanced coursework. In addition to his school activities, Hugo has already earned an Associate's degree in Business Management, showcasing his commitment to his future career. Outside of academics, he enjoys journaling and writing, using these outlets for reflection and creativity. Hugo’s dedication to his work and his proactive involvement in various organizations highlight his well-rounded and ambitious nature.

Vanessa Gastelum is a senior at Westwood High School and has been in Interact for three years. She recently joined Interact District Council this year and is excited to help reach her community. Vanessa is a proud student of Westwood and participates in many club and service projects whenever she can, she is the proud president of Science is fun club where she spends touching the hearts of many young children. Some of her other clubs are, Earth Club, Bring Change to Mind, IB Mentors, FCCLA, Little Warriors, Youth of Life, was her school’s homecoming princess, and lastly, is in the International Baccalaureate Carrerr Pathway Program, her career pathway is Education, as she intends to become a high school teacher. Apart from juggling her busy life, she loves to draw, bake, and design in her free time, she enjoys nature and aspires to make a change in society, Her dream would be to make a sustainable clothing brand that’ll make a difference in the fashion industry.

Riya Gaur is a senior at Basha High School in Chandler and is the West Valley Team Leader this year, in addition to serving her third year as an Assistant Governor. She has been involved in her school’s Interact club since freshman year after attending RYLA, and is excited to continue helping her community through service. Along with volunteering in a variety of activities, Riya is on her school’s swim team, is top scorer of her Academic Decathlon team, and is involved in other clubs such as NHS, Science is Fun, and Bring Change to Mind. She loves to learn new things through AP classes and reading, and is so excited to work with Interact clubs and Rotary projects all around the world again!

Gunika Goyal is a junior at BASIS Phoenix and it is her fourth year of Interact. She is the President of BASIS Phoenix Interact Club. In school, she is also involved in activities such as NHS and Speech and Debate. Out of school, she enjoys activities such as swimming, tennis, and reading. After high school, Gunika hopes to pursue a career in medicine, and to prepare for that, she volunteers at HonorHealth. She is also an AP/honors student, and loves taking a variety of AP’s such as AP Biology, AP Computer Science A, and AP Psychology. Gunika is also part of another service organization called Sewa International, which is a Hindu nonprofit through which she volunteers a lot. She is very excited to be a part of the District Council this year, and is excited to see what new accomplishments we will have this year!

Siddhanth Gupta is a sophomore at Desert Mountain High School. He joined Interact in 8th grade and is the President and Founder of Desert Mountain's Interact Club. This is his second year on the council and he is super excited to help the community as an Assistant Governor. Sid loves biking and swimming as well as playing on his electric guitar. Sid is part of his library's Teen Advisory Board, where he helps in service projects and volunteering. As part of the publicity committee of Interact, Sid is excited to continue his work on our Interact District's website.

Jasmine Kaur is a junior at BASIS Scottsdale. She is now the president of her Interact club and can’t wait to reach the community more than the club has ever before. She’s been serving her community since she was five, starting with her dad at the local food pantry every Sunday morning, to being a local advocate for mental health in teens as a peer counselor and board member of Bring Change To Mind. Starting her second year with Interact, she’s provided connections with Native Health for Interact’s toys and socks drive as well as taken charge of Interact’s social media, garnering attention for the club within her school and community. She can’t wait to support Interact in any way she can!

Joshua Perez is a junior at Mohave High School. He has been involved in Interact since his freshman year, and this will be his third year of being in Interact. This is his first year of being an assistant governor, and he is currently the secretary of Mohave High School’s Interact Club. Joshua was given the opportunity to go to RYLA his freshman year, gaining new experiences, which has inspired him to move up to be an assistant governor. Within his school, he is also involved in many other organizations outside of Interact, such as Student Council and National Honors Society. Joshua is excited to be working on the council with others and being able to help his and many other communities.

Sai Suggula is a BASIS Phoenix junior, pursuing her third year with Interact. She pursues a rigorous academic curriculum at school, including a range of AP and honors courses. She is also an active member of the National Honor Society and participates in Speech and Debate. Beyond her academic pursuits, Sai is dedicated to community service, regularly volunteering at food banks, shelters, and community organizations involving initiatives related to environmental sustainability and food insecurity within the Phoenix community. She is also an active participant at Chinmaya Mission, where she not only deepens her understanding of her cultural heritage but also contributes to the organization of cultural events. Outside of her academic and extracurricular pursuits, Sai enjoys dancing, singing, and painting. She is enthusiastic about her role in the Interact District Council this year and is eager to effect meaningful change via coalition-building with other chapters

Besides Interact, Jyotsna enjoys volunteering in her community as part of the Teen Advisory Board for Scottsdale Public libraries. She also enjoys reading, hiking and swimming, and she is looking forward to working with her fellow Council members to make a difference in the community!

Xavier Torres is a sophomore at Estrella Foothills High School, diving into his second year with the Interact Club where he proudly holds the position of sophomore class officer. This past summer, he had the honor of being an ambassador for Mexico and is excited to share the insights and experiences he gained. In addition to his role in Interact, Xavier is active in student council and plays volleyball for his school. He has a deep love for sports, especially baseball and basketball, and values spending quality time with his friends and family. As a devoted follower of Christ, Xavier is passionate about sharing the gospel with others. He’s eager to make a meaningful impact through his various endeavors and contributions.

Valeria Zambrano is a sophomore at Mohave High School in Bullhead City. Despite this being her first year on the Interact District Council she has been an active member of Interact for 4 years. She is the activities coordinator for her school’s Interact Club. Along with community service, Valeria also enjoys painting, reading, and taking pictures.
